I've found these things generally work better if you don't declare your intentions. People will resist your suggestion if its too overt - they like to imagine they're controlling themselves
This approach also - bonus! - protects you from allegations of causing obesity
Golden rule - unless they are positively crying out to be told what to do, never tell them what to do
Allow them to choose to help themselves by copying you / doing what you want
